2.30 COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING DEPARTMENT

2.30.010 Community redevelopment and housing department.

A community redevelopment and housing department is hereby established and may sometimes be known as the development services department. The department shall be composed of the following divisions: development, including redevelopment, economic development, and film promotion; housing, including market, low and moderate income housing development and preservation; Section 8 housing assistance; and other divisions as determined by the city manager to the extent same are not inconsistent with the charter and ordinances of the city.

2.30.020 Director of Community Redevelopment and Housing.

A. The office of director of community redevelopment and housing is created. The director shall be the head of the community redevelopment and housing department and shall also be known as the director of development services. The director shall have charge over the following functions to the extent that such oversight is not inconsistent with other provisions of the Glendale Charter: low and moderate income housing, Section 8 housing, economic development, redevelopment, film promotion and other related functions as assigned by the city manager. The director or his or her designate, shall advise and assist the Glendale Redevelopment Agency and Housing Authority, city manager, and the council as to all matters related to the functions set forth herein, and the director shall perform such other duties as the city manager may assign to him or her.

B. The director of community redevelopment and housing shall be an officer of the city.

C. Wherever in this code the phrase community development and housing or director of community development and housing is used, they shall also mean and include the community redevelopment and housing department or director of community redevelopment and housing, as the case may be.
