The Need for Economic Development
On December 29, 2011, the California Supreme Court upheld the Legislature's dissolution of all redevelopment agencies across California. The impact of this legislation on the City of Glendale cannot be overstated. Quite simply, millions of dollars of local tax revenue, which would have been invested in our community, must now be redirected to Sacramento.
The continuing construction work on the I-5 corridor is requiring nighttime closures that will affect both southbound and northbound lanes between the hours of 12 am and 6 am. The lane closures will take place from the 118 Freeway to the 170 Freeway (Branford to Sheldon Streets) on the following dates: January 29 through February 6; and then again from February 12 through February 17. For a complete list of the lane closures and a detour map, visit the website.

Court Ruling on Redevelopment Agencies: Glendale will Seek Legislation

AB 26 was the State legislation that eliminated the agencies; AB 27 was the companion legislation that allowed the agencies to continue if they agreed to pay the so called "ransom" of $1.8 billion to the State.
